Has a profusion of tiny, green spots that develop in late summer on reddish-brown leaves, giving the appearance of having been sprinkled with sand. Earlier in the year, in spring and early summer, the leaves are rich, orange-red with green venation; in fall, a dramatic show of intense colors takes over.
