A broadly spreading shrub or small tree that jet black fruit with deep red pulp in two distinct crops, an early crop on old wood and a late summer crop on new wood. The flavor and quality is exceptional for eating fresh, and the fruit can also be dried for winter. Tolerant of poor soil and drought once established. Rich soil produces many leaves, but few fruits.
