Potentially massive, deciduous shade tree. Form starts out pyramidal, and with age, becomes rounded and wide spreading. Foliage is dark green, and ranges from rich brown to deep purple in the fall. May take 12 years to produce acorns. Slow to medium growth rate. Slow to re-establish after transplanting.
